We made the decision to move out of California to Arizona to save us from losing everything. We work hard to repair and remodel our four bedroom house. It's finished about the end of September. It looks beautiful - right out of Better Homes and Garden! With two open houses and 17 days on the market, we sign papers. The house is sold. We move out in 30 days into a one-bedroom apartment, and extra stuff into storage. We're cramped, but happy. Looking forward to new adventures. Though I'm still miffed about someone stealing my one and only pomegranate from the tree in our yard! I was so looking to eat it!

I've quit working as property manager of the business building as of the first of the year. I know I'll be too involved cleaning and readying the house for sale to do my job well. Tom's work is steady enough to support us for the time being. We have a house full of stuff, especially the garage...aag! we're pack rats. Days are spent sorting, re-saving, resorting the re-saved and finally packing, trashing, garage-sale-ing, or 'goodwill-ing'. The stuff seems to come out of nowhere, boxes multiply. How did we pack so much in this house! Looking back it seems like such a waste to hold on to it. It's now in others hands to treasure and use.

I feel excited about moving to a new place and new beginning. Our goal is to live in or near Sedona, an artist-friendly community. We should do well. I look forward in having my own studio to create works in. All seems open for great possibilities. I also feel saddened that I'll be far from my daughters, mom and sister. I wish for them to join us. My fantasy is to have 20+ acres with a house for everyone. However, no body but us is moving.

March - I miss our sweet face cat, Abbie-Tabby. It's mid-March, a Friday - I'm forced to take her down to the vet and end her life. She's suffering terribly from lung cancer. She is barely able to stand. Ossie is concerned too. She gently noses Abbie and lies near to watch over her. Gone are the days of mock jealousy, hissing and batting each other. Tom makes a plain box and I pad and line it in hot pink satin with a fabric rose in one corner. I bury her up at my mom's under the large south oak tree. There Abbie can lay in the wild grass, sunning herself. R.I.P. 1988 - 2004

June 20 - My grandson has his first birthday. We celebrate at Dublin newest park. The day is windy and has a slight chill in it. Summer hasn't taken a hold yet. The kids are having fun as adults watch and talk. Aden's a bit shy, and takes in everything happening around him. He's a bright, inquisitive child.

July 5 - Tom's mom passes away. She had Alzheimer's for several years and was in the beginning of the third final stage. It was kind of a blessing she died at this point, as she still had her dignity. Such a woman quite gentleness, grace, love of her family and life-long friends. R.I.P. 1918 - 2004

Dec - The trouble begins with Michael. He has my mom so upset Marla and I think she'll have a heart failure. She cries no-stop. Michael quit his job before he's vested, and loses his pension/retirement benefits, then loses his whole savings in some get-rich scheme. Tom and I feel obligated to give Michael a large sum of money to rescue him from bankruptcy. He's has convinced mom if he goes into bankruptcy he'll never be able to be a pilot. No amount of talking from anyone else convinces mom otherwise. We lend Michael the money, but only to save mom.
